Reboot 8.0

Nicole just sent me an email, seems that Thomas just put up Reboot 8.0! :D

Reboot 8.0

For those of you, who haven’t heard about it, as they put it:

Reboot is the European meet-up for the practical visionaries who are building tomorrow one little step at a time, using new models for creation and organization in a world where the only entry barrier is passion. reboot is two days in June filled with inspiration, perspective, good conversations and interesting people.

I hope I can make it, since Reboot 7.0 was actually one of the most interesting conferences I’ve been in the past years, lots of interesting people to meet, lots of networking going on up there in copenhagen. Hope I can make it, and hope I can see you all there too!

European Geographic Information Hijacked?

Vote for Public Maps - Reject INSPIRE!

Seems the Council of European Union has formally adopted a common position on the Inspire Directive, which stipulates that Geographic Data collected by National Mapping Agencies all over Europe should be owned by such agencies and not by the Public.

This couldn’t be more wrong, state-collected Geographic Data is and should remain public property, if you take a look at the US for instance, there’s a lot of geo data-sets that remain available under a public domain licence. The questions, is a moral and technological one, on one side, is state should provided it’s citizens with the geographic information, since it’s collected with their money, on the other, by closing down the access to the geo datasets, their inhibiting the proliferation of such tools in Europe. The major league companies will still be able to get the information they need, you simply close down it’s use by the public in general.

If you like me, don’t agree with this situation, please subscribe the petition online and make your voice be heard!

FEEDblendr

FEEDBlendrHere’s something that I’ve been using to create new types of feeds from existing feeds.I’m using it right now to create a unique photolog that combines photos from different fotosharing sites, but I’ve also built my own news feed by combining the feed from diferent media sources in portugal, sources I’ve selected, kind of my own editorial feed, where I only get news from those I’ve decided to listen for. :)

If you find interesting it lives here: http://feedblendr.com/
