Of course it's in their best interest, nothing in Business isn't. But writing that you have to be a user mac to use Rails isn't correct at all, I know quite a lot of people using it on other unix enviroments like Linux for instance. Plus, resuming the increase of sales of Macs with a simple application like TextMate sounds a bit naive to me... no?

Mac OS X is a true development platform meaning it has built in a bunch of features that make a whole lot easier developing on it.

I personally use TextMate for Perl Programming, and I do recommend it to a whole lot languages other than Ruby. Just try it out, but really try it, and then decide which is going to be your editing application next! ;)

I couldn't be less surprised about that. Keep in mind that 37Signals is the one behind Rails, and that anyone who's anyone in "Rails land" has to use a Macbook + Textmate (read <a href="http://www.radrails.org/blog/2006/9/12/radrails-textmate-and-why-taste-matters" title="" rel="nofollow">this</a>). Believe it or not, Apple had a spike in MacBook sales because of the hidden price tag Textmate has (read 2500 for a MacBook).

It's in their best interest :)
