I’ve been using Plazes for quite some time now, and I find it a unique and interesting service for tracking and publishing my location online along the day. Nevertheless it’s always a bit hard for me to explain to other potential users, the reasons why they should or shouldn’t use it, expecially the little effort they actually have to make to put it to work for them! Well.. not anymore, seems like Peter Rukavina has put up some very nice screencasts for Plazes, which I recomend to everyone who would like to learn a bit more about Plazes.

Há já algum tempo que tenho vindo a usar e abusar do Plazes e para além de satisfeito continuo a achar que é um serviço único para publicar a minha localização física online. Apesar da experiência, cheguei à conclusão que é sempre complicado, explicar a potenciais utilizadores, as razões porque deveriam ou não usa-lo, ou tão simplesmente explicar o quão fácil é de instala-lo e rapidamente começar a tirar partido do mesmo. Bem, pelo menos agora vou ter ajuda, o Peter Rukavina (outro, ainda mais fanático do que eu) preparou um conjunto de pequenas apresentações (screencasts) sobre o Plazes, que eu recomendo a todos os que ainda não perceberam a funcionalidade ou simplesmente desejam aprender um pouco mais sobre o Plazes.

Althought still in Beta, the service is already more than stable and a precious help when trying to find the nearest wifi spot about the place where you are, wherever you are! Trust me on this, (besides actively helping growing the current wifi spots database) I’ve also dependend on it to find my connection to the wired world. These days you can even use it on your mobile phone to track down other stuff than wifi connections, stuff like restaurants, the nearest gas station, you name it! Where am I:

Apesar de estar em Beta, o serviço do Plazes está mais do que estável, tornou-se já no meu caso numa importante referência, quando preciso de encontrar locais especificos. E nisto posso mesmo atestar que vale a pena, é que já por mais do que uma vez que dependi da base de dados do Plazespara encontrar coisas como restaurantes ou a bomba de gasolina mais do local onde me encontrava! Dá jeito sim, senhor! Onde é que eu ando?
