Twiiter Stampede
May 29th, 2008
It’s not new that Twitter has scalability problems, one simple look at their numbers and it’s more than reasonable, yesterday however things seemed a little less under control with the site/api being quite some time unavailable! don’t exactly know if that’s the reason, but my Jaiku contact list just got a daily increase of 6%!
It’s still hard to figure out if people are just registering for the service because they’ve found it or if we’re witnessing a Twitter Stampede?

I think it’s more like a Twitter vacation. Like when you’re refurbishing a room in your house and you go to a hotel. The hotel room is not quite the same, but you don’t intend to stay there forever anyway. After that, you return home.
Anyway, Twitter is getting pretty crappy on the last few days and they’re doing an AWFUL job communicating with their users.

It’s pretty clear that Plurk has been one of the beneficiaries of Twitter’s downtime. People routinely go to Plurk to discuss when Twitter will be up again.
