PLING!

July 1st, 2008

It’s no news that vending machines come in all sizes and shapes these days! But today I don’t know how I’ve resisted to use this one in downtown Lisbon…

This particular one ‘PLING‘ is supposed to deliver meals, not just those typical soups and dried stuff! It has entire meals and ice-creams on the menu! According to this same menu images these machine is capable of delivering full portuguese specialties, with fresh carrots and peas, like “moelas“, “feijoada” e “frango com cogumelos“!

Unless there’s a full featured kitchen underneath I don’t know how it could come up with such things, honestly! I don’t know how I resisted… just to see what would come out of it!!

In Marques de Pombal station it’s called “The Incredible Meal and Ice Cream Machine”: http://www.flickr.com/photos/brunofigueiredo/1433249420/

    A feijoada machine! OMG!

I have this science fiction picture in my head of a box where beans and cows go in one end and feijoada comes out the other, although I suspect it’s really more like a fridge full of MREs

I think there’s one of these machines on Alameda’s subway in Lisbon.
Quite intriguing how they serve “fresh” meals. Personally I won’t ever eat one of those meals.

Yep, I was wondering the same thing just the other day… who the hell eats stuff from those machines.

I take the subway everyday and I have never seen anyone use them.

This machine is in Marquês de Pombal, next to the stairs on the southbound platform heading for downtown. And yesterday I’ve lost a train on purpose, because there was this lady using the machine hehehe camera ready.. the lady had an icecream.. fck!

Machines! Actual mechanical boxes that output nourishing foods and drink. This is genius.

This + RepRap/FabLab + added chemicals => automated robot human harvesters.

Humanity’s doom spelled out in garish lettering! With bad food photographs.

    Hi,
I could say the food is house made, it is more secure than most of what we eat everyday but you would never believe if you don’t try it.
I will be happy to explain or show the kitchens where it is made.
Freezing is the best conservation process. Better than that, just fresh. But nowadays nothing is fresh. So many times I buy fruit in supermarket and then I have to throw it out because tastes nothing.
That never happens with our meals.
